ETHOS GROUP

At Chorlton C of E, our Christian ethos forms a vital part of everyday life. We believe that all our pupils should have the opportunity to develop a set of values they can use now and in the future. To ensure Christian Values are at the forefront of each pupil's mind, we formed an Ethos Group.

As an Ethos Group we:

  • meet weekly with the RE lead teacher
  • work with other adults and children to build positive working relationships
  • report to the school leaders on what we have thought about and discussed
  • promote the schools Christian Values
  • support our school in developing our Christian distinctiveness
  • attend Inter Faith events such as the 'Inter Faith' conference
  • plan special experiences to enhance our learning in Religious Education
  • evaluate each collective worship to ensure the adults are promoting and teaching though the Christian Values

Christian Values

Take a look at our Christian Value quotes! We worked hard to find quotes that show how committed we are to learning from Christian teachings.

Loving to learn; learning to love

‘You show love for others by truly helping them, and not by merely talking about it.’ (1 John 3. 18 CEV)

Respect

“Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.”

(Genesis 1.26 NRSV)

Friendship

“I have called you friends” (John 15. 15 NRSV)

Honesty

“let us all speak the truth to our neighbours,

for we are members of one another” (Ephesians 4. 25 NRSV)

Perseverance

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

(Philippians 4. 14 NRSV)

Tolerance

“Let us therefore no longer pass judgement on one another”

(Romans 14.13a NRSV)

Enjoyment

“Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4.4 NRSV)
