Cross Country

Our year 5 and 6 children took part in the annual cross country competition at Chorlton Park earlier this term, completing the 1.5km course. In blustery conditions both the boys' and girls' teams performed brilliantly. The girls team managed to qualify for the Manchester Finals, helped by a fantastic 2nd place finish by Jazzy! We look forward to seeing how the girls get on in a few weeks time.

Girls Football festival report

Year 5:  Cara, Jessica, Jasmine, Nicole

Year 6:  Jazzy, Matilda, Cara, Mia, Esme, Daisy

All the girls had a good time at this event.  They had a session of stations, including football tricks, refereeing, goalkeeping, fun games - kicking a ball and the speed being measured, and meeting Manchester City players.  They then played in some matches outside.

Our match reports:

Chorlton V Temple School (Cheetham Hill)                 1:1

Chorlton V St Bedes                                           Won  2:0

Chorlton V St Thomas Moore (Wythenshawe)            0:0

Chorlton V Temple School other team                Lost  1:0

Some great examples of footballing skills during the matches:  Matilda was stunned at scoring a goal and Cara (Y5) scored from a goal kick.  Esme made an excellent save off her legs.  Cara (Y6) showed great thinking at the back, and Jasmine (Y5) was so focused on the game that she ran off the pitch and crashed into the siding.  Daisy was outstanding in her pursuit of the ball, and gave a great straight pass down the wing.  In our last game Cara shot wide of left post, and then Daisy kicked the ball over the top of the goal.  Jazzy made a great save.  Well done everyone, a good team effort.

Thanks to Nicole's mum and Shazia for lifts.

Cross Country Finals

Well done to Jazzy, Esme and Mia from year 6 who took part in the Manchester Cross Country Finals earlier this month. A special mention to Jazzy who came 9th overall, as you can see in the results below!

Year 2 Football Tournament

A huge congratulations to the year 2 children who took part in the football tournament at MCFC academy at the beginning of December. The team played brilliantly and came through the group stages unbeaten. In the quarter final knockout round the match went to extra-time, then penalties, then sudden death penalties! Unfortunately, they lost at this point but what a great effort shown by all. Everyone was really impressed with how the team handled a very tense situation - the future is bright for football at Chorlton!
