Autumn 1

Autumn 1

This term our topic is “All About Me” where we will be learning about ourselves and those around us. We will be reading the books "It's Okay to Be Different" and “I Want My Hat Back”.

It's Okay to Be Different

We read 'It's Okay to Be Different' by Todd Parr and thought about all the things that make us special. We looked at ourselves in the mirror and painted self-portraits to show our uniqueness.

Black History Month & National Poetry Day

We read the poem 'There is a Flower at the Tip of My Nose Smelling Me' by Alice Walker.

We enjoyed reciting the poem together and it inspired us to create our own flower art using circle and line paint brush strokes:

I Want My Hat Back!

Day one of our story and we entered nursery to find posters everywhere for a missing hat! Upon reading our story we discovered a bear was missing his red and pointy hat.

To help find the hat, we each made a missing poster with pictures of the hat and a reward to anyone who found it. We also investigated shapes to find out what shape the hat was.
