Autumn 1

Welcome to Reception Class!

We hope you have all had a lovely summer break. We are really looking forward to getting to know our new class and we know it is going to be a great start to the year with lots of exciting learning opportunities.  Our primary aim over the next few weeks is to ensure that the children are happy to come to school, and that they feel safe and secure.  We will be supporting those children who are new to the school in making new friends and feeling confident in their new environment.

This half term out topic will be 'What Makes me Special'. The children will be learning all about themselves and their families and thinking about things that are special to them. We will also be thinking about the future and what their dreams are. We will be using texts such as Owl Babies and Home to support our learning. The children will have lots of opportunities to develop through all areas of the Early Years curriculum. Please see the curriculum page for more information about the different areas of learning and the objectives within these.

We will begin to learn the first sounds in Jolly Phonics which will support the children to begin to recognise and write sounds and simple words.
