  • Super Learning Day!

    On Tuesday 16th we held a most creative Super Learning morning based around 'A Child of Books' our theme for this Thursday's open evening. Thank you to Gail Secker, one of our photographer parents who kindly took the gorgeous photos below. We hope you can see the enjoyment the children took from their Art and Writing activities, amongst others.

  • £25,000 Energy Makeover for Chorlton CE Primary!

    We are delighted to announce that Hattie McAffer in year 6 has been named as the runner up nationally in the Smarter Energy Competition with British Gas. Not only did Hattie win herself an iPad, a Wilbur toy and the school and Einstein tablet, she has also won us a huge £25,000 energy makeover!

    This means the school will receive an energy survey and improvements will be made whether it be lighting, windows, solar panels to make us more energy efficient. We are so proud of you Hattie and thrilled to win such an amazing prize.

  • British Gas Generation Green Competition

    British Gas Generation Green Competition - We are very proud to announce that Hattie McAffer in Year 6 is the regional finalist for the North West!

     

    • More than 4,000 children across Britain entered a Generation Green competition to win an energy makeover worth up to £50,000 for their school
    • In the Smarter Power competition, children were asked to design an energy-saving comic strip, showing the benefits of smart meters
    • 11 finalists have been selected and are now in the running to see their school transformed with eco-technology
      Judges include an artist from world famous comic, The Beano

    School pupils across Britain are celebrating after being named as finalists in the British Gas Generation Green competition.

    The 11 finalists are in with the chance to win an energy makeover worth up to £50,000 for their school, after their comic strips have been shortlisted from hundreds of entries across the competition regions. Two runners up could win energy makeovers worth £25,000. 

    Hattie has already won an iPad, a toy Wilbur and an Einstein tablet for our school.

  • KS1 Literacy Parent Workshop

    On Friday Miss Marsh and Miss Parkin led a Literacy Workshop for parents of Years 1 & 2. Parents had a chance to hear what happens in class, take part in activities and know what they can do to support spelling, handwriting and reading at home.
  • Eco Team Recycling Visit

    Our school eco team with pupils from Year 2 to Year 6, have begun reviewing our school's impact on the environment, and on Wednesday, went on a trip to the Manchester Waste Renewal Centre.   Intrigued, they discovered how to correctly recycle, and visited all the machines that separate all our rubbish.  I have no doubt that we will hear more about this in the near future!  Thanks to Mike Booth and Ben Minogue for the help.

  • Macmillan Big Coffee Morning

    Thank you to everyone who baked a cake and came for a cuppa and a slice this morning. There was a lovely atmosphere, raising money for a charity close to many hearts. We look forward to our next Community Coffee Morning on Friday 21st October at 9.10am.

    Years 4,5 & 6 please see in bookbags on Friday 16th for a newsletter from Chorlton High School in reference to their application to open a Free School in 2018. They need parental support in order for the application to be successful, please do so if you can.
  • Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake & Bad Things

     We have been fortunate this week to have a preview of 'Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake & Bad Things' at Z-Arts in Hulm as well as a Q&A session with Michael Rosen. This beautiful exhibition will be on until December and offers an interactive insight into Micheal Rosen's life as well as the much loved text 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Reception will be visiting later in the term, it's a must in this year of Reading in Manchester!
